Turrialba has a territorial extension of 1.664,57 km 2, which means the 52% of the Cartago province, been the larger in territory according to the rest of the provinces. Turrialba is located from North East to South East, between the Conservation of the Central Mountain Range area and the International La Amistad Park, surrounded by the six protected zones..

Nowadays its population is from 70.000 habitants approximately and the Turrialba city, heading the corner is about 30.000 habitants.

Turrialba is located only 64 km to the South East from San José and 108 km from Limón .It is one of the entrance and exit doors to the Atlantic side of the country.

Its altitude is 639 m over the sea level and it is crossed by the Turrialba and the Colorado River.
